Angels & Icons w/ Guest Instructor Gwen Lafleur

In this full-day class, we'll take inspiration from Mexican Folk Art, Orthodox Icons, and more to make our own mixed media angels. (Not into angels or icons? You can turn your figure into a fairy queen, a butterfly princess, or any strong male or female figure that you want on your canvas.) We'll use collage, stencils, stamps, heat embossing, and a variety of other mixed media supplies and techniques as we make our collaged figure and background on an 12" x 16" canvas panel.

Registration begins on Friday, August 16 at 10am.  Please stop by the store or call 860-399-4443 to sign up.  If you get our voicemail, please hang up and try again.  All classes must be paid for at the time of registration.  Please note our class cancellation policy for Gwen's visit: Cancellations received before the close of business on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 will receive a refund in the form of store credit only.  Classes are non-refundable after September 10 unless we can fill your seat from a wait list.  If we are able to fill your seat you will receive a refund in store credit only.

***Student Supply List: Remember, you get 10% off the day of class.  Please give us a call if you need us to hold any of these items for you!
  • A craft mat, baby wipes, scissors
  • A variety of papers, fabric scraps, ephemera, jewels, trims, etc... to build and accessorize your figure
  • Neutral collage papers and ephemera for your background
  • Acrylic Paint - a few favorite colors (you'll probably want gold or bronze too)
  • Paint brushes (I like the 12 pack of round bristle brushes by Loew-Cornell and 1" chip brushes - stiff bristle brushes work well for this project.)

  • Glue or gel / heavy gel medium (I like E6000, LockTite Gel Control, and Tacky Glue)
  • Embellishments for your figure
  • A face (about 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" or so - I'll also have options available. We'll adjust the body to match the proportions of the face)
  • Wings if desired (I'll also have a few options to choose from)
  • Texture mediums - (I like Wendi Vecchi gold embossing paste) or a plain light molding paste like Golden.
  • Circular objects or diecuts to use as a halo if desired (I'll also have a few options)
  • Liquid Pearls or dimensional paints, Stickles, etc... as desired
  • Colored pencils and / or watercolors to color your face and wings
