Mini Journal Mayhem With Guest Instructor Gwen Lafleur

Get ready for mini journal mayhem with this full-day art journaling class... mini style. We'll start by using the Codex binding to make our own 2.5" square mini art journals. Then we'll use a variety of easy layering techniques to help you to quickly build up complex backgrounds and journal pages. By the end of class, you'll have a hand-bound mini art journal, several completed spreads, and lots more backgrounds in various stages of completion.

Registration begins on Friday, August 16 at 10am.  Please stop by the store or call 860-399-4443 to sign up.  If you get our voicemail, please hang up and try again.  All classes must be paid for at the time of registration.  Please note our class cancellation policy for Gwen's visit: Cancellations received before the close of business on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 will receive a refund in the form of store credit only.  Classes are non-refundable after September 10 unless we can fill your seat from a wait list.  If we are able to fill your seat you will receive a refund in store credit only.

***Student Supply List: Remember, you get 10% off the day of class.  Please give us a call if you need us to hold any of these items for you!
  • A craft mat, baby wipes, scissors, a water cup
  • Papers to make the pages of your book - you'll need about 15, 2.5" x 5" (please come to class with pages cut ahead of time if at all possible - I recommend white or light papers, watercolor, cardstock or similar weight, or cotton rag (i.e. Dina Wakley) paper are great.)
  • A variety of printed papers and ephemera (gelli prints are great for this)
  • Washi tape, rub-ons, etc... any flat embellishments you'd like to use
  • Acrylic Paint - 6-8 colors should be plenty (I like PaperArtsy Fresco Finish for the fast drying time on this project)
  • Paint brushes - bring your favorites for painting backgrounds (I like the 12 pack of round bristle brushes by Loew-Cornell and 1" chip brushes.)
  • Matte medium and a brush or sponge to apply it
  • Stamps and stencils - you'll want a variety of background and focal images (keep in mind the scale of the book which is 2.5" square.)
  • Ink pads with sponges or applicators for stenciling (I like Staz-On Pigment pads, and you may want embossing ink like VersaMark.)
  • Brushes or sponges for stenciling with paint (I like the long-handled Dina Wakley bristle brushes.)
  • Rub-on, stamp, sticker, or stencil words for your pages
  • Journaling pens
  • Paint or ink in FineLiner bottles (or something like Dina Wakley paints with FineLiner or detail tips)
  • Paint markers or other mark-making tools (I like Stabilo All pencils in black and red)
  • Watercolor crayons and / or pencils and water pens (I like Caran d'Ache Neocolor II, Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks, or Marabu Art Crayons and Inktense or similar pencils.)
  • Heat gun, favorite embossing powders, and a Teflon craft mat

  • Book board and waxed linen thread
